A client of Sharp Decisions Inc. is seeking a
Web Developer to be based in
Phoenix, AZ. The position is
HYBRID. The contract's duration is
6 months with possible extension. *W2 and local only.
Scope of Work Under the supervision of both the assistant director of IT and the deputy assistant director of Communications, Research and Marketing, perform website updates through the content management system to bring the website into WCAG 2.2 compliance.
The contractor will: Use Acquia Optimize to identify fixes that can be made within the CMS, including WCAG 2.2 A and AA mitigation, and broken links or images
Make updates within the CMS, with feedback or direction from the deputy assistant director.
Compile a list of fixes and submit them to the assistant director of IT.
Monitor the website for additional accessibility improvements and make
recommendations.
Work with an outside software company on releases for the website that will fix issues and check website after releases to ensure functionality.
The deputy assistant director will provide login information for Acquia Optimize as well as the CMS. Through Acquia, there are currently 48 level A issues to fix and 24 level AA issues. Additionally, Acquia identifies pages with broken links or broken images, which the contractor will be required to update with the assistance of the deputy assistant director.
Core Technical Skills HTML & CSS: Fundamental for structuring and styling web pages.
JavaScript: Crucial for adding interactivity and dynamic functionality.
Responsive Design: Ensuring websites function well on all devices and screen sizes.
Version Control (Git): Tracking changes and collaborating on code.
Backend Basics: Understanding servers, databases, and API integration (Node.js, SQL, etc.).
Testing & Debugging: Identifying and fixing errors in code.
Web Performance Optimization: Improving site speed and loading times.
Security Awareness: Implementing practices to protect against vulnerabilities.
Required Skills - HTML & CSS experience
- Experience with JavaScript
- Backend and API integration experience (Node.js, SQL, etc.).
