Job Title: Senior FIS Developer (Senior Fidelity National Information Services Developer)
Location: Remote
Duration: 6-12 Months
The client is ideally looking for candidates with 7+ years of experience; however, there is some flexibility for candidates with slightly less or more experience depending on the overall fit.
Job Summary
The Senior FIS Developer is a technical and functional leader responsible for the design, development, optimization, and strategic evolution of enterprise Financial Information Systems. This role owns complex solutions across core finance platforms, leads system architecture decisions, mentors junior developers, and partners closely with Finance leadership, Accounting, Audit, and IT to ensure scalable, compliant, and high-performing financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the design and implementation of complex financial system solutions across GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and Financial Close.
- Own end-to-end solution architecture for financial system enhancements and integrations.
- Define technical standards, design patterns, and best practices for FIS development and support.
- Review and approve solution designs and code developed by junior team members.
System Development & Optimization
- Develop and configure advanced system customizations, workflows, and business rules.
- Lead large-scale enhancements, upgrades, and platform migrations.
- Proactively identify and drive opportunities for automation, performance improvement, and technical debt reduction.
Integration & Data Strategy
- Design and oversee complex integrations between financial systems and enterprise platforms (HR, Procurement, Banking, Data Warehouses).
- Ensure data governance, reconciliation, and integrity across financial data flows.
- Guide ETL, API, and batch interface strategy to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
Financial Close, Reporting & Compliance
- Act as a key technology partner during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Ensure systems support accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and audit controls (e.g., SOX).
- Lead development and optimization of financial reporting, dashboards, and management insights.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Translate complex finance and accounting requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Partner with Finance leaders, Controllers, Internal Audit, and Compliance to align systems with business strategy.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on financial system capabilities, limitations, and roadmap planning.
Support, Risk & Governance
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support and lead root cause analysis for critical production issues.
- Own change management, deployment governance, and regression testing standards.
- Ensure documentation, controls, and audit evidence meet enterprise and regulatory expectations.
Mentorship & Team Enablement
- Mentor and coach FIS developers and analysts.
- Lead knowledge sharing, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Influence hiring, onboarding, and skill development for the FIS team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience developing, supporting, or architecting Financial Information Systems or ERP platforms.
- Deep expertise in financial processes (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Close & Reporting).
- Advanced SQL and relational database experience.
- Proven experience designing enterprise-grade system integrations and data flows.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Senior-level experience with enterprise platforms such as:
- SAP FI/CO, Oracle Financials, Workday Financials, or comparable ERP solutions
- FIS Global platforms – Get Paid and Integrity
- Strong understanding of SOX, audit readiness, and financial controls.
- Experience with cloud-based financial systems and modern data architectures.
- Experience leading initiatives in Agile or hybrid delivery models.
