Job Title: Senior Software Developer – AI / LLM Engineering

Location: Plano, TX (Local candidates only – 3 days/week onsite at Plano HQ)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer (AI/LLM Engineer) to join a horizontal engineering team supporting 600+ application teams. This team is driving engineering maturity through platform standards, automation, and large-scale technical debt remediation initiatives.

This is a hands-on AI engineering role focused on building advanced, agentic AI workflows that automatically analyze enterprise codebases, detect technical debt, and generate high-quality automated fixes (vulnerability patches, dependency upgrades, language modernization, etc.).

⚠️ Important: This is NOT an automation testing role. We are looking for engineers who have designed and implemented LLM-based systems, built multi-agent workflows, and deployed AI tools in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop LLM-powered multi-agent workflows for:
• Code analysis
• Technical debt detection
• Automated remediation proposals
• Safe patch generation
• Implement advanced agentic AI patterns, including:
• Planning & execution loops
• Dynamic tool orchestration
• Function calling
• Sandboxing and tool isolation
• Guardrails and failure recovery
• Architect and optimize RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, including:
• Chunking strategies
• Embeddings
• Vector & hybrid search
• Reranking models
• Retrieval policies
• Build scalable automation systems for:
• Language/runtime upgrades
• Vulnerability patching
• Dependency modernization
• Configuration drift correction
• Develop LLM evaluation frameworks using:
• Offline datasets
• Validation metrics
• Statistical testing
• A/B experimentation
• Contribute to backend systems using:
• Python
• Distributed systems
• Microservices
• PostgreSQL
• DBT
• Vector databases
• Caching, streaming & queueing
• Build CI/CD pipelines and observability dashboards
• Collaborate with Platform, Dev Experience, Security & Product teams
• Mentor engineers and provide knowledge transfer
• Author technical documentation, RFCs, and architectural diagrams

MUST HAVE Qualifications (Do NOT submit without these)

• 5+ years of experience building production-grade systems with end-to-end ownership
• Strong expertise in Python and software engineering best practices
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features (multi-agent systems, function calling, autonomous workflows)
• Deep knowledge of multi-agent architectures (planners, executors, tool routing)
• Strong understanding of RAG systems (chunking, embeddings, vector/hybrid search, retrieval policies)
• Experience evaluating LLMs using statistical reasoning and validation frameworks
• Strong AWS expertise (required):
• Lambda
• ECS/EKS
• EC2
• API Gateway
• S3
• IAM
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Experience with observability tools (Datadog, logging, tracing, metrics)
• PostgreSQL, DBT, data modeling & schema evolution knowledge
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector, etc.)
• CI/CD pipeline development (GitHub Actions or similar)
• Proven experience in application modernization & technical debt reduction
• Hands-on AI development experience, including:
• LLM creation or fine-tuning
• AI tool adoption
• Framework definition
• Strong client communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing secure agent infrastructure with sandboxing and fail-safe execution
• Background in large-scale platform engineering or developer experience tooling
• Enterprise AI security, compliance & privacy understanding
• Strong architectural communication (RFC writing, diagrams)
• Application development background (nice to have, not mandatory)
• Infrastructure support background is acceptable if strong in AI
