IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.

Our client is looking for a Sr. Java Developer to play a hands-on senior technologist/lead role in the analysis, technical design, development, modernization, and support of applications.

The candidate will provide technical leadership and expertise in modernization efforts, such as upgrading legacy applications to modern frameworks, remediating Java versions, updating application architecture, integrating test automation (unit & regression), and providing guidance in the development/maintenance of a CI/CD development pipeline following industry best practices.

They are seeking a highly experienced senior developer with strong experience in Java, MVC pattern implementation (Struts, Spring), migrating legacy applications to modern frameworks, test automation, microservice architecture patterns, and troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues related to upgrades and/or modernization efforts.

Tasks

• Play a hands-on senior technologist/lead role in the analysis, technical design, development, modernization, and support of client applications.
• Provide technical leadership and expertise in modernization efforts, such as upgrading legacy applications to modern frameworks, remediating Java versions, updating application architecture, integrating test automation (unit & regression), and providing guidance in the development/maintenance of a CI/CD development pipeline following industry best practices.

NOTE: Candidates must be CURRENT WI residents. No relocation is allowed. This role will work mostly 100% remote within the State of Wisconsin. However, the selected hires will need to be available to come onsite as needed, at their own expense. The client is planning recurring in-office collaborative sessions for team members to be in the office working directly together so the ability to come into the office is necessary.

• 3+ years - DevSecOps Best Practices including leveraging SonarQube
• 4+ years - Java Batch experience
• 4+ years - Automated Testing Best Practices
• 4+ years - Setting up/maintaining MQ queues and application integration
• Leveraging GitHub Copilot or similar GenAI based IDE tools to accelerate software development and testing practices
• Strong understanding of identity and access management, with experience using tools such as Okta
• 4+ years - Experience setting up/maintaining MQ queues and application integration
• Java Messaging Service experience
• Experience working with WebSphere Liberty
• Leveraging GitHub Copilot or similar GenAI based IDE tools to accelerate software development and testing practices
• Experience working with Government agencies
