Head-End/RF Engineer

Location: Clearwater/Tampa/Ft. Myers area - will be on-site and with a company vehicle.

Role Overview

The RF Engineer is responsible for the deployment, management, maintenance, and optimization of processes involved in RF origination, signal distribution, modulation/demodulation, RF over Glass transport, and live content reception. This position leads technical initiatives for system upgrades, scalability, performance optimization, and the implementation of new RF standards and emerging technologies within the RF ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the end-to-end RF distribution from sources such as satellite, fiber, IP streams, and OTT platforms.
  • Ensure RF signals are acquired at high quality, conducting regular quality checks and implementing error correction.
  • Manage RF systems for live content, ensuring local origination performance to headend systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot RF feeds to ensure minimal downtime and rapid resolution of issues.
  • Ensure proper installation and maintenance of RF components, including receivers, antennas, optical transmitters, EDFAs, splitters, and amplifiers.
  • Implement signal analyzation techniques to ensure consistent RF quality and format.
  • Install and configure OTA receivers and antennas, Satellite Antennas, L-band Optical and RF systems, HFC Systems, and IP to RF Modulation.
  • Implement scalable and redundant RF solutions to ensure high performance.
  • Work with the network team to manage and optimize the transport of RF signals over Coax and Optical systems.
  • Troubleshoot network-related issues that impact RF transport to ensure stable content delivery.
  • Implement and maintain security practices to protect signals in distribution equipment and systems.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in RF/HFC systems and broadcast engineering, with a focus on satellite, IP, and fiber transport. A background in RF headend operations and video distribution technologies is required.

Technical Skills: Experience with C-Band, L-Band, Coax, Fiber Optic, and RF Active and Passive systems.

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand for long periods, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, sit for long periods, stand frequently, bend, squat, reach, and turn to access files and office equipment. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds. The role may require work on flexible days, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
