Senior OpenShift / Platform Migration ArchitectLocations: Charlotte, NC | Dallas, TX | Chandler, AZ
OverviewWe are seeking a Senior OpenShift / Platform Migration Architect to support a large-scale enterprise transformation focused on migrating legacy applications from on-premise data centers to modern platforms. This role blends hands-on engineering, architectural leadership, and cross-team orchestration, with a strong emphasis on OpenShift (OCP), AutoSys migration, and application modernization.
You will partner closely with full-time engineers and application teams to drive migration strategy, resolve complex technical blockers, and guide legacy applications through the full migration lifecycle-from readiness to production.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support OpenShift (OCP) migrations and AutoSys job onboarding efforts
- Partner with application and platform teams to define clear, executable migration paths
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, mentorship, and consulting to engineering teams
- Review Solution Review Packages (SRPs) and ensure applications meet "permit to build" requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking, load balancing, firewall, and connectivity issues
- Guide application teams in modernizing code and reducing dependency on virtual machines
- Act as the escalation point for high-risk or complex migration challenges
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, architecture guidelines, and DCMS requirements
Required Skills & Experience- Strong OpenShift / OCP expertise, including cluster administration, deployments, networking, routing, and troubleshooting
- AutoSys job migration and scheduling experience
- Solid understanding of data center networking, including AVI load balancing, firewalls, and connectivity
- Broad development background with .NET (required) and Python or Ruby (preferred)
- Experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation
- Proven ability to lead migrations, including SRP reviews, architecture decisions, and permit-to-build processes
- Ability to consult with application development teams and provide guidance on coding structure and modernization
- Experience working across legacy, SAS-based, and modern applications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions and breakout sessions with SMEs
Nice-to-Have Skills- Security and compliance experience in regulated enterprise environments
What You'll Be Working OnThis team supports a critical enterprise initiative to modernize and migrate 60+ legacy applications that have not been updated in years. Many of these applications require hands-on engineering support, architectural guidance, and coaching to move through the migration pipeline without disrupting "run the bank" operations.
Key workstreams include:
- OpenShift (OCP) migration as a prerequisite to data center migration
- AutoSys onboarding and job migration
- SRP reviews and permit-to-build approvals
- Application readiness across non-prod, pre-prod, and prod environments
- Code modernization for legacy technologies (SAS, ECT, .NET, Ruby, Python, etc.)
- Load balancing, firewall, and connectivity validation (AVI, networking, security)
- Reducing VM footprint and avoiding unnecessary virtualization
- Coaching application teams with limited recent hands-on development experience
- Ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and DCMS requirements
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $88.75 - $100.00/hr.
