Job title: Technical Writer

Location: Tampa, FL / Jersey City, NJ

Duration: long term contract. 

We are seeking a Technical Writer to organize, standardize, and improve technical documentation across systems and platforms. This role partners closely with engineers, technical leads, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to consolidate fragmented content, identify documentation gaps, and produce clear, consistent, and maintainable technical materials.

The ideal candidate can translate complex technical concepts into practical, well-structured documentation that supports development, operations, support, and business teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with engineers, technical leads, and SMEs to gather and validate technical information

• Review, clean up, and standardize existing documentation; identify gaps and propose improvements

• Produce and maintain documentation including:

 – System and application designs

 – End-to-end processes and workflows

 – API and data interface documentation

 – Operational procedures and runbooks

 – Troubleshooting guides and support reference materials

 – Knowledge transfer and onboarding documentation

• Ensure documentation is consistent, version-controlled, and easy to maintain

• Create diagrams, process flows, and visual artifacts to support written content

• Support documentation governance, review cycles, and publication standards

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Strong technical writing, editing, and content organization skills

• Proven ability to synthesize and structure scattered or incomplete information

• Experience working directly with software engineering and technical teams

• Working knowledge of APIs, databases, and system architecture concepts

• Ability to create diagrams, workflows, and structured documentation

• High attention to detail and consistency across documentation assets
