Job Description:
Lead Java Developer

Location: Durham, North Carolina (Remote)

Role Overview

An experienced Lead Java Developer is sought to develop business solutions within the healthcare industry. This role involves working with modern frameworks for container, cloud, and serverless Java/Linux-based solutions. As a Pod Lead, the individual will own business features from requirements through implementation, working directly with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to drive architecture decisions and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner directly with business users to clarify requirements and influence solutions.
  • Design architecture and technical approaches for enterprise solutions.
  • Lead developers within a pod, driving delivery and technical direction.
  • Plan and deliver complex, long-term projects involving multiple teams.
  • Oversee projects in terms of architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Lead the development of new systems and technologies, ensuring alignment with requirements.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for coding patterns and code reviews.
  • Serve as a technical lead, providing guidance and reviewing the work of other team members.
  • Mentor and train developers, helping them navigate technical challenges.
Required Qualifications

Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering with hands-on architecture experience.
  • Experience acting as a technical lead, solution lead, or pod lead.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise solutions and creating architecture diagrams.


Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Familiarity with Agentic AI (e.g., Claude, Codex, ChatGPT) and the ability to validate and quality-check AI-generated code.
  • Experience developing RESTful web services and working with microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of messaging services such as Kafka or IBM MQ.
  • Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle).
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito).
  • Experience with SQL development and database management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the healthcare domain, including exposure to laboratory, clinical, or diagnostic platforms.
  • Experience with product implementation.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases for large-scale enterprise solutions.
  • Experience developing container-based and serverless applications.
