As a Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you will lead and mentor a team of experienced data engineers and database specialists responsible for designing, building, and optimizing large-scale data pipelines and ETL processes. You will also champion leveraging AI and machine learning technologies driving advanced analytics and business value. You will provide strategic direction, technical guidance, and operational oversight, ensuring the reliable delivery and transformation of high-volume data assets. Your leadership will foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and drive innovation in data engineering practices, while supporting the enablement of AI and analytics initiatives across the organization.

Job responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of senior data engineers and database experts working on complex, high-volume data integration and transformation projects.
- Accountable for decisions that influence team resources and the execution of data engineering strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and data governance standards.
- Stay current with advancements in AI and Gen AI, evaluating new tools and techniques for potential adoption.
- Guide teams in the design, development, and optimization of robust ETL pipelines, data workflows, and database solutions to support analytics and AI initiatives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence, while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Proactively identify and resolve team conflicts and operational issues, escalating as necessary to ensure project success and team well-being.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including analytics and AI teams, to enable data-driven decision-making and support new use cases.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and Generative AI technologies to enhance data engineering solutions and drive business value.
- Oversee the implementation of best practices in data quality, data governance, and operational monitoring for large-scale data environments.
- Champion Agile and DevOps methodologies to accelerate the development and deployment of data solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Management, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading senior technical teams.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent field.
- Proven ability to understand, interpret, and work with complex data models
- Deep expertise in designing, building, and optimizing ETL pipelines, data workflows, and large-scale database solutions (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, NoSQL).
- Strong experience with big data technologies (Spark, Databricks) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Hands-on experience with AI and machine learning concepts, including practical exposure to Generative AI technologies (such as large language models, generative adversarial networks, or similar).
- Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, SQL).
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing teams, including conflict resolution and talent development.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience working with data intensive SDLC tools such as Jira, Bitbucket etc. with a deep understanding the complex data models.
- Experience with cloud-based monitoring and operations tools (e.g., Data Dog, Splunk, Grafana).
- Experience working at code level and with modern infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins).
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
