Job DescriptionA market-leading credit card and financial services organization is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support a high-priority engineering initiative focused on building and scaling critical platforms that serve millions of card members. This role is centered on end-to-end test automation, ensuring quality, resilience, and speed across complex, enterprise-scale systems. You will play a key role in designing and implementing modern automation frameworks within a Java environment, using Playwright to drive reliable and scalable testing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end automated testing frameworks using Playwright
- Develop robust, reusable, and scalable automation solutions in a Java-based testing ecosystem
- Partner closely with backend and frontend engineering teams to validate functionality across APIs, services, and user interfaces
- Support a high-visibility engineering initiative, ensuring high quality and stability across core platforms
- Execute automated tests as part of CI/CD pipelines, enabling fast and reliable releases
- Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively improve automation strategy
- Perform root-cause analysis for defects and support troubleshooting across environments
- Advocate for quality best practices, including shift-left testing and test automation standards
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in test automation or quality engineering
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end UI and functional testing
- Strong proficiency working in a Java environment, including test framework development
- Experience testing web-based applications, APIs, and backend services
- Understanding of test automation frameworks, design patterns, and best practices
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and Agile development methodologies
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in complex systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale, distributed, or microservices-based systems
- Exposure to financial services, payments, or regulated environments
- Experience with API testing tools and frameworks (REST, JSON, service virtualization)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and containerized environments
- Knowledge of performance, load, or resilience testing concepts
- Experience collaborating closely with engineers as part of an embedded quality model
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- knowing or having experience with AI chat bots

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
