Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) to provide executive-level cybersecurity leadership for a financial organization in Fort Worth, TX.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information security leadership, financial services, cyber risk management, and board-level communication. This individual must be comfortable working directly with executive leadership and presenting cybersecurity risks, strategy, metrics, and recommendations to the Board of Directors and senior management.

This is a hands-on leadership and advisory role requiring 3 days per week onsite in Fort Worth, TX.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior cybersecurity advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Develop, maintain, and execute the organization''s overall information security and cybersecurity strategy.
• Present cybersecurity risks, security posture, KPIs/KRIs, incidents, and remediation plans to the Board and executive stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide cybersecurity risk management program.
• Assess and improve security governance, policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure cybersecurity initiatives align with business objectives and organizational risk appetite.

Required Qualifications

·        10+ years of experience in cybersecurity/information security.

·        Previous experience serving as a CISO, vCISO, Deputy CISO, Head of Information Security, or equivalent senior security leadership role.

·        Demonstrated Board-level experience, including presenting cybersecurity strategy, risk, metrics, incidents, and recommendations to a Board of Directors or Board committee.

·        Strong experience within financial services, banking, insurance, fintech, credit unions, investment management, or another highly regulated financial organization.

·        Strong understanding of enterprise cybersecurity governance and risk management.

·        Experience working directly with C-suite executives and senior business leadership.

·        Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, SOC 2, and/or applicable financial-sector regulations.

·        Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements such as GLBA, FFIEC, PCI DSS, SOX, or similar frameworks.

·        Excellent executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

·        CISM, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or similar cybersecurity certification.

·        Experience developing cybersecurity programs from the ground up or transforming existing security programs.

·        Previous consulting or vCISO/fractional CISO experience.
