Description

SAIC is seeking an Agile Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support SAIC's large SETA program, supporting the NRO's Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED), Advanced Ground Office.

The Mid-Level Agile Systems Engineer supports the development, integration, and sustainment of complex mission systems, applying modern Agile and DevSecOps practices to accelerate capability delivery. This role expands on traditional systems engineering responsibilities-requirements, architecture, integration, testing-while operating within iterative development models. It is designed for candidates with several years of systems engineering experience who can engage across technical teams, help refine backlog items, coordinate sprint activities, and ensure capabilities meet mission performance needs.

Key Responsibilities to include:
  • Execute core systems engineering tasks including requirements elicitation, analysis, functional allocation, interface definition, and system architecture development.
  • Translate technical requirements and operational objectives into actionable Agile user stories and sprint-level tasks.
  • Support Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to system design, integration activities, and end-to-end flow analysis for complex hardware/software systems.
  • Participate in systems requirements reviews, technical assessments, and interface standards development.
  • Develop documentation supporting technical issues, system performance requirements, scalability, availability, and security considerations for mid-to-large systems.
  • Support integration, verification, and validation efforts throughout iterative Agile releases.
  • Collaborate with software developers, architects, integrators, mission operators, and cybersecurity specialists to ensure cohesive system behavior.
  • Assist with risk identification, mitigation tracking, and configuration management activities.
  • Ensure traceability across user needs, system requirements, Agile features, and test/verification artifacts.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Relevant experience to be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI with Poly
  • 6 years of systems engineering experience supporting development, engineering, integration, and testing of complex HW/SW systems
  • Experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, functional allocation, architecture development, or technical/non-technical assessments.
  • Experience developing system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirements.
  • Experience developing documentation to address program technical issues and training requirements.
  • Experience in analytical or intelligence-production environments.
  • Experience using Agile and/or spiral development models.
  • Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
