Summary

Description:
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Inspector - Welding & Fabrication to ensure our fabricated products meet engineering drawings, project specifications, applicable welding codes, and customer requirements.

This position will work closely with Fabrication, Welding, Engineering, and Project Management to identify and resolve quality issues throughout the fabrication process-not simply during final inspection.

The ideal candidate has hands-on welding/fabrication experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read drawings and recognize quality issues before they become costly rework.

CWI certification is not required but is strongly preferred.

  • Maintain and complete Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and QA/QC documentation.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of welding and fabrication.
  • Verify fabrication matches current engineering drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Inspect welds for proper size, profile, workmanship, and visual defects.
  • Verify fit-up, alignment, dimensions, tolerances, and overall fabrication quality.
  • Verify applicable WPS requirements, welding procedures, welder qualifications, and consumables are being followed.
  • Maintain weld inspection and quality records.
  • Verify material identification and material traceability/MTR documentation when required.
  • Identify, document, and track nonconforming work, repairs, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate quality issues with Supervisors, Welders, Fabricators, Engineering, and Project Management.
  • Verify deficiencies are corrected before work progresses or is released.
  • Ensure current drawing revisions are being used on the shop floor.
  • Assist with customer and third-party inspections when required.
  • Assist with project quality turnover packages and final documentation.
  • Help identify recurring quality issues and recommend improvements to reduce rework, scrap, and customer complaints.
  • Promote a proactive "quality built in, not inspected in" approach throughout the fabrication process.

Benefits: Medical, Vision, Dental, Life, PTO, Paid Holidays, and Matching 401(k).

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, QA/QC, or welding inspection.
  • Strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of weld inspection, fit-up, dimensions, and fabrication tolerances.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete inspection reports and QA/QC documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with production personnel and management.
  • Basic computer skills, including Excel or similar documentation systems.

Preferred

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Experience with AWS D1.1.
  • Experience reviewing WPS/PQR and welder qualifications.
  • Experience with material traceability and MTRs.
  • Familiarity with NDE/NDT methods such as MT, PT, UT, or RT.
  • Experience with ITPs, customer inspections, and project turnover documentation.
  • Previous lead, supervisory, welding, or fabrication experience.
