Join Lonza\'s GMP Manufacturing team in Tampa and help bring innovative drug products from development through commercialization. In this role, you will apply your packaging engineering expertise to design, validate, and optimize primary packaging systems that support product quality, compliance, and patient safety.

Fully site-based role

This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do:

  • Lead the design, selection, and optimization of primary packaging materials, components, and systems for GMP drug products.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Operations, MSAT, and other stakeholders to deliver compliant and efficient packaging solutions.

  • Provide technical expertise for packaging technologies including vials, bottles, flexible bags, aseptic form/fill/seal systems, sterilization processes, labels, and single-use technologies.

  • Plan and support process validation, stability studies, product interaction assessments, and shipping studies related to primary packaging.

  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives focused on packaging performance, operational efficiency, lean principles, and GMP compliance.

  • Support technology transfers, change controls, deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and operational improvement programs.

  • Develop manufacturing documentation, review executed batch records, and support the qualification and implementation of GMP manufacturing equipment.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical cGMP environment.

  • Expertise in primary packaging design, material selection, packaging components, and packaging systems.

  • Experience with packaging technologies including vials, bottles, flexible bags, aseptic form/fill/seal systems, sterilization processes, labels, and single-use technologies.

  • Knowledge of process validation, stability studies, product interaction assessments, and shipping studies related to primary packaging.

  • Experience supporting GMP manufacturing operations, technology transfers, deviations, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong technical documentation skills, including preparation and review of Master Batch Records and qualification protocols, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
