Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced SAP Process Integration (PI) / Process Orchestration (PO) Architect to support a security-driven TLS remediation initiative.

The consultant will analyze multiple SAP PI environments to identify configuration inconsistencies and troubleshoot issues related to TLS protocol changes and cipher suite restrictions. The goal is to ensure compliance with internal cybersecurity standards while maintaining connectivity across integrated systems.

This role sits between traditional SAP Basis administration and PI development, focusing primarily on system configuration, environment analysis, and secure integration architecture.

Responsibilities

• Analyze multiple SAP PI/PO environments (production and non-production) to identify configuration differences.
• Review and assess TLS protocol and cipher suite configurations across environments.
• Troubleshoot integration issues occurring when deprecated TLS versions are disabled.
• Investigate why TLS configuration changes function correctly in some environments but fail in others.
• Recommend configuration changes to ensure secure and consistent TLS implementation across environments.
• Assist with implementation of approved changes to disable older TLS protocols and align with cybersecurity requirements.
• Collaborate with SAP Basis administrators and PI developers during troubleshooting and deployment activities.
• Validate integrations after security updates to ensure systems continue communicating properly.
• Provide clear documentation and knowledge transfer, including:
  • Configuration updates
  • Troubleshooting steps
  • Recommended future maintenance practices
• Work within the client's change management process when deploying system updates.

Required Experience

• Strong experience with SAP Process Integration (PI) / Process Orchestration (PO) administration or architecture.
• Deep understanding of SAP NetWeaver PI Java stack configuration.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting TLS protocols and SSL certificates.
• Knowledge of cipher suites and secure communication protocols within SAP environments.
• Experience analyzing configuration differences across multiple system landscapes.
• Ability to diagnose issues related to integration failures caused by security configuration changes.
• Experience working closely with SAP Basis and integration teams in enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting cybersecurity remediation or compliance initiatives.
• Familiarity with SAP cryptographic libraries and SSL configuration.
• Experience working in environments with multiple external integrations and partner systems.
• Experience supporting enterprise change management processes.
