Role summary:
Own day-to-day operations, maintenance, and reliability of Microsoft Azure and Windows Server environments supporting enterprise web and data workloads. Partner with application, database, and security teams to deliver stable, secure, and well-documented services. Emphasize automation, proactive monitoring, and efficient release management.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor, triage, and report on Windows Server and Azure workloads; ensure availability, performance, and capacity targets
- Automate routine tasks and integrations using PowerShell and Robo-FTP; maintain script repositories and runbooks
- Plan and execute deployments and releases to production; validate post-release health and roll-back plans
- Administer Azure PaaS/IaaS services including Azure App Service, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Azure SQL Database
- Troubleshoot across the stack: Windows OS, IIS, TLS/certificates, DNS, Active Directory, networking basics, storage, and SQL Server
- Manage identity and access: user/group provisioning, RBAC, AD group policies, SQL logins/roles
- Respond to and resolve service requests and incidents; collaborate with developers and engineers to optimize application and database usage
- Maintain architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational documentation
- Support patching, backup/restore validation, and vulnerability remediation activities
- Contribute to change, incident, and problem management processes following ITIL practices
Must-have qualifications:
- Hands-on Microsoft Azure administration for production workloads (PaaS/IaaS)
- Strong Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server administration
- Scripting proficiency in PowerShell; experience with Robo-FTP or similar file transfer automation
- SQL Server administration fundamentals (backup/restore, security, jobs, performance basics)
- Working knowledge of IIS, TLS/certificate management, and DNS
Preferred/bonus skills:
- Azure DevOps administration (repos, pipelines, release artifacts, service connections)
- ITIL-based service support, incident/problem/change management
- Vulnerability management and patch orchestration
- ServiceNow (incidents, requests, CMDB, change)
- Azure governance and security (RBAC, Policy, Monitor/Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud)
- Infrastructure as Code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) and Azure CLI
- KQL for log analysis and operational reporting
Expected deliverables:
- Bi-weekly status reports (submitted every other Monday prior to prime’s bi-weekly report)
- Weekly approved timesheets (billable hours for prior week each Monday)
- Maintained automation scripts/runbooks and updated system documentation/diagrams
- Release/deployment records and change tickets per policy
Education and experience:
- BS or BA required
- 3+ years administering Microsoft Windows and Azure environments (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant certifications a plus: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Database Administrator Associate, ITIL Foundation
