Business Systems Analyst (Only on W2)

Job Title: Business Systems Analyst / Project Manager

Location - Evanston IL

Position Summary
We are seeking a hard-working, professional individual with strong interpersonal communication, project management, analytical, and documentation skills. This role is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and development of various application and infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will work closely with internal business and technical teams, IT vendors, and external subject matter experts to gather and document business and system requirements, and to oversee the design, testing, and implementation of solutions. This position also facilitates the resolution of system issues, manages approved system enhancements, and performs full SDLC project management in a cost-effective manner aligned with organizational goals.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to understand business objectives, mission, and operational goals

• Develop in-depth knowledge of organizational functions, processes, operations, and IT environments

• Maintain and update system protocols, procedures, and documentation

• Assist in identifying the need for and selection of external tools, vendors, and resources

Project Management Responsibilities

• Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables

• Develop project plans, charters, and management documentation following established project management or PMI standards

• Monitor project progress, track activities, resolve issues, publish status reports, and recommend corrective actions

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand priorities and align deliverables

Business & Systems Analysis Responsibilities

• Elicit business requirements through interviews, workshops, document analysis, surveys, use cases, and workflow analysis

• Analyze and reconcile information from multiple sources, identify true business needs, and translate them into detailed requirements

• Produce project artifacts including user stories, functional and business requirements documents, use cases, process flows, system outputs, business rules, and interface designs

• Challenge assumptions and drive alignment between business and technical teams

• Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish technical direction and evaluate usability vs. performance tradeoffs

Testing & Documentation

• Oversee system and user acceptance testing plans, scenarios, and scripts

• Assist with application and infrastructure smoke testing following change or release management activities

• Document requirements, processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures using collaboration and documentation tools

• Manage project intake and status tracking using project management systems

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Experience and Skills

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field

• 3 5 years of experience in business and systems analysis

• 3 5 years of project management experience

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to interact effectively with executives, managers, technical staff, vendors, and subject matter experts

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams of varying sizes

Desired Experience and Skills

• Project Management Institute (PMI) certification

• Agile or Scrum certification

• Experience with multiple SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile/Scrum)

• Experience with project tracking and ticketing systems

• Experience with test management tools

• Experience supporting web-based application projects

• Experience managing vendor-based and distributed project teams

• Working knowledge of relational databases and ability to execute complex SQL queries

• Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

• Strong people management and collaboration skills

• Experience in educational or institutional environments is a plus
