Job Summary:

Proactively ensures the most complex production database platform is performing at the highest level and functioning within the platform; solving the most complex issues; translating user's needs within business requirements into scalable, cost-effective database solutions utilizing on-premise and cloud-native services. Implements and maintains advanced monitoring and alerting systems to predict and prevent potential issues.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Proactively ensure the continuous health, stability, and performance of the production database platform. Implement and maintain advanced monitoring and alerting systems to predict and prevent issues before they impact users.

Translate business requirements into scalable, cost-effective database solutions using on-prem and cloud-native services. Proactively engineer solutions for performance bottlenecks and resource consumption. Implement security through automated, repeatable processes meeting strict regulatory and ADOT IT compliance.

Perform testing & continuous integration of database migrations. Ensure all data assets are governed using metadata, data models and documentation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc.

Skill in/with:
Strong customer service skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Google Workspace

Ability to:
Balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
Work collaboratively in teams and across organizations.
Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly.
Build strong relationships inside and outside the organization.
Develop and write technical documentation.
Model and design relational databases.
Install and support relational database management systems (RDMS).
Evaluate and test emerging technologies.
Apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor's degree plus 5 or more years of experience in database administration (or equivalent experience)

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
