IT Systems Administrator
Duration: 3 Years
Work Model: Hybrid (Onsite 2 days/week; 4–5 days/week onsite during initial training period)
Start Requirement: Interim clearance sufficient
Background / Need
The Client is seeking a talented and motivated IT Systems Administrator to support the IT operations. This role focuses on the administration, development, and optimization of PLM environments, CAD/PDM systems, engineering tools, and supporting infrastructure, including build, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Candidates with experience in Aras Innovator, Windows Server, VMware, DevOps tools, networking, and cybersecurity will excel in this fast‑paced, collaborative research environment. The position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing mission‑essential engineering systems to ensure availability, security, and performance.
Must-Have Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required
Required Experience (5+ Years Each)
Systems & Infrastructure
- Application & infrastructure monitoring (performance, issue detection, troubleshooting)
- Desktop & server support (installation, patching, auditing, configuration, security, AD)
- Systems administration across Linux, Mac, and Windows
- Windows Server Administration (SCI classified environment)
- Virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi & vCenter configuration)
- Enterprise backup solutions
- Strong backup experience to protect mission‑critical data
- Diagnose & troubleshoot complex issues
- Application-level patching
- Configure and manage centralized logging & audit capabilities
Security & Networks
- Network, system, and application vulnerability scanning, configuration assessments, and remediation
- Hands‑on vulnerability remediation across multiple operating systems
- MS Active Directory, LDAP
Programming & Automation
- Scripting languages: Python, Perl, PowerShell
- DevOps tooling: Git, GitHub, GitLab, Artifactory, Jenkins, Satellite, Quay, Landscape
Engineering Systems
- Experience managing PDM and PLM in an engineering environment

- ARAS Innovator (any experience)
- CAD/PDM tools such as SolidWorks
- FlexLM licensing technologies
- Experience supporting systems in protected/closed environments
- XML/JSON editing and basic app development for troubleshooting tools
Job Responsibilities
PLM Systems Administration & Development
- Administer, build, deploy, maintain, and upgrade multiple Aras Innovator environments (Prod, QA, UAT, Dev)
- Perform environment refreshes, including biweekly after-hours/weekend upgrade windows
- Apply patches and address emergency maintenance issues
- Troubleshoot integration issues (e.g., authoring system connectors), performance problems, and licensing issues
- Collaborate with DEC team, Aras Support, partners, and developers on automated testing, data migration, and deployments
Infrastructure & DevOps
- Provision, configure, and optimize Windows Server VMs
- Resolve performance, patching, and security agent issues (BigFix, SentinelOne, etc.)
- Maintain software license servers and ensure reproducibility of environments
CAD/PDM & Engineering Systems Support
- Support SolidWorks/PDM add‑ins, upgrades, and license renewals
- Troubleshoot ODBC driver problems, certificate expirations, and policy-related interruptions
Security & Compliance
- Perform vulnerability remediation with cybersecurity teams
- Manage certificate lifecycles and configuration management
- Track EOL status, submit alternative controls
- Install/evaluate security tools and diagnose complex security-related issues
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server & VMware/ESXi provisioning, tuning, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of SQL Server configuration and performance factors
- DevOps pipeline familiarity (Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
- Scripting skills (PowerShell, C#)
- Solid understanding of IT security practices (vulnerability management, PAM)
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Ability to create automation scripts for provisioning, patching, and deployment
Desired Skills
- Hands‑on experience administering or upgrading Aras Innovator
- Experience with CAD/PDM systems like SolidWorks
- Knowledge of FlexLM licensing
- Ability to troubleshoot or migrate systems in secured/isolated environments
Additional Notes
- Some after‑hours/off‑hours work may be required for data migrations or system upgrades
- Hybrid schedule begins after the initial training period
