Position Overview

We are seeking a  API Developer to execute the end-to-end migration of legacy Axway and Apigee Private Cloud/Edge APIs to Apigee Hybrid. Working under the guidance of our lead internal architects, you will take ownership of API development, integration architecture, automation scripting, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in enterprise API management platforms, thrives in hands-on technical execution, and can work autonomously to deliver robust, scalable integration solutions aligned with US business hours.

Key Responsibilities

• API Migration & Refactoring: Migrate legacy API proxies, policies, and integrations from Axway and Apigee Edge/Private Cloud to Apigee Hybrid.

• Hands-on API Development: Design, build, test, and maintain secure, high-performance RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, and custom policy configurations.

• Automation & CI/CD Pipelines: Build, maintain, and optimize automated deployment pipelines (using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps) for API lifecycle management.

• Scripting & Integration: Write custom scripts (Python, Bash, JavaScript, or Groovy) for API automation, configuration management, and service orchestration.

• Architectural Alignment: Collaborate directly with internal solution architects to execute technical specifications, security patterns, and governance frameworks.

• Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough unit testing, performance testing, and debugging to ensure smooth transitions with zero downtime during cutovers.

Required Qualifications & Must-Haves 

• Platform Expertise: Proven track record in API development using Apigee Edge/Private Cloud and Axway API Management.

• Hybrid Migration Experience: Direct experience migrating APIs to Apigee Hybrid.

• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, OAuth 2.0, mTLS, JWT, and API security best practices.

• DevOps & Automation: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, infrastructure-as-code concepts, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, JavaScript).

• Work Schedule: Must operate full-time aligned with standard US time zones (EST/CST/PST).

• Autonomy: Ability to work independently, manage technical deliverables, and execute complex migrations with minimal day-to-day oversight.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) supporting Apigee Hybrid runtime environments.

• Knowledge of legacy SOAP to REST transformations.

• Familiarity with enterprise service mesh technologies and microservices architectures.
