Summary

Senior PBM Data Analyst to support its Actuarial Forecasting and Analytics organization. This role is focused on using advanced SQL, pharmacy benefit management (PBM) knowledge, and analytical forecasting experience to support the development and enhancement of pricing and underwriting models.

The ideal candidate is a highly technical Data Analyst with strong PBM industry experience and the ability to independently analyze complex datasets, identify trends, develop forecasting insights, and support financial projections.

This position requires someone who is equally comfortable working directly with data and understanding how that data influences forecasting assumptions and business decisions. While experience developing technical models is valuable, the primary focus is expert-level SQL, PBM knowledge, and forecasting experience.

Key Responsibilities
Perform complex data analysis using advanced SQL to support PBM forecasting, pricing, and underwriting initiatives.
Analyze historical pharmacy claims, utilization, drug costs, and other PBM data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Support the development and refinement of forecasting assumptions, adjustment factors, and financial projections.
Evaluate changes in pharmacy utilization, drug pricing, brand/generic launches, and other factors influencing forecasts.
Extract, manipulate, and validate large, complex datasets to support analytical and forecasting needs.
Investigate discrepancies, outliers, and unexpected results to improve forecast accuracy.
Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of existing forecasting models and analytical processes.
Collaborate with actuarial, analytics, and technical teams to translate business questions into meaningful data analysis.
Communicate analytical findings and forecasting insights to business and technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Expert-level SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, and advanced data manipulation.
Meaningful PBM industry experience, with an understanding of pharmacy claims, utilization, pricing, or related PBM business functions.
Hands-on forecasting experience, including historical trend analysis, financial projections, forecasting models, or assumption development.
Strong experience analyzing large, complex datasets and identifying trends, anomalies, and underlying business drivers.
Experience supporting analytical, financial, or forecasting models.
Strong quantitative reasoning, analytical problem-solving, and data validation skills.
Ability to independently investigate complex data questions and develop meaningful insights.
Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting PBM actuarial forecasting, pricing, underwriting, or financial analytics.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), BigQuery, or similar cloud data environments.
Experience with SAS, Python, R, or other analytical programming languages.
Experience with Excel/VBA or automated financial modeling processes.
Familiarity with pharmacy market dynamics, including generic launches, drug pricing changes, and utilization trends.
Experience developing or enhancing SQL-based forecasting models.
Background in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or another quantitative discipline.
