Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect with strong expertise in Looker, LookML, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Platform. The candidate will drive enterprise data architecture, semantic modeling, BI modernization, and cloud migration initiatives. The role requires hands-on technical leadership, architecture design, and experience building scalable, governed analytics solutions, including AI-ready data foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define end-to-end technical architecture for enterprise analytics solutions, including LookML semantic layers, governed metrics, data models, security, and performance standards.
  • Lead migration initiatives from legacy BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy, and Cognos to Looker and BigQuery.
  • Design reusable migration frameworks and leverage automated conversion and translation tools.
  • Lead hands-on development sessions, architecture reviews, and technical workshops with customer engineering teams.
  • Develop LookML models and Knowledge Catalog metadata to support governed, AI-driven, and conversational analytics.
  • Establish enterprise architecture standards, CI/CD processes, development guidelines, and reusable frameworks for customer Centers of Excellence (CoE).
  • Optimize Looker and BigQuery performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and address existing architectural gaps.
  • Mentor engineering teams and provide technical guidance, code reviews, and architectural recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Google Cloud engineering teams to resolve complex platform challenges.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, BI, or Data Architecture.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in LookML development and enterprise Looker implementations.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, BigQuery, query optimization, partitioning, clustering, and cost management.
  • Experience with dimensional modeling, Data Vault, semantic layers, and governed enterprise metrics.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale BI migration or modernization projects.
  • Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform architecture, IAM, data security, and governance.
  • Excellent technical documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Looker APIs, Looker Extensions, Data Apps, Embedded Analytics, and Looker Studio Pro.
  • dbt, Dataform, Dataplex, and Knowledge Catalog.
  • Google Cloud IAM and enterprise security frameworks.
  • Exposure to Gemini, Conversational Analytics, LLM-based solutions, and AI agents.
  • Knowledge of prompt engineering and semantic grounding for AI-driven analytics.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Looker LookML Developer certification is a plus.
