Location: Houston, Texas (Onsite)
Role Overview
This role involves performing advanced transmission system analyses. The successful candidate will conduct studies such as steady-state power flow, short circuit, transient stability, voltage stability, and transfer capability to ensure system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform power flow, short circuit, and stability studies to identify and determine necessary system improvements for maintaining transmission system reliability.
- Update power flow models to accurately reflect changes in topology, resources, and load.
- Represent the company on applicable ERCOT and NERC working groups, user groups, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NERC standards, produce compliance reports, and participate in audit activities.
- Work cooperatively and jointly with other departments within the company.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of electric utility or power engineering experience is required. This experience must include performing engineering calculations and/or design.
Work Environment
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
- Able to work a varied schedule, including occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime on nights and/or weekends, to complete projects and meet deadlines.
- Able to work indoors in an office environment.
- Able to travel as necessary to complete job responsibilities.
- May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
