Oracle Data / Database Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data/Database Engineer to support the development and enhancement of its customer data environment. The resource will focus primarily on building and strengthening the underlying Oracle database structures supporting customer segmentation, accounts receivable/billing, construction-related customer information, reporting and future data sources.

The objective is to create a flexible, sustainable data foundation that is less dependent on individual source systems and can continue supporting reporting as Energy Company's ERP and broader data ecosystem evolve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extend existing Oracle data model and hybrid staging architecture, including reusable customer relationships across segmentation, accounts receivable, and construction data.
  • Implement repeatable ingestion, staging-based change detection, restartable processing, and analytical history within Energy Company's existing Oracle staging and transformation layers.
  • Build database structures that connect customer information across multiple datasets rather than maintaining independent flat-file datasets.
  • Help migrate appropriate data processing from flat-file and Alteryx-based processes into sustainable database structures and procedures.
  • Preserve consistent downstream reporting structures as upstream source systems change, with source-to-target reconciliation and exception logging.
  • Develop and maintain documentation around:
    • database structures
    • data relationships
    • lineage
    • transformation logic
    • processing procedures
  • Work closely with SQL developers/analysts supporting customer segmentation and accounts receivable workstreams.
  • Identify and isolate customer PII and implement CPS-approved access controls for database structures and downstream reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing data structures without unnecessarily redesigning a functioning model.

Required Skills
  • Strong Oracle database development experience.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL database programming capabilities.
  • Experience with relational database design and data modeling.
  • Experience developing data ingestion, staging and transformation processes.
  • Ability to work with interconnected datasets and relational structures.
  • Experience documenting database structures, transformation logic and data lineage.
  • Ability to evaluate existing environments and improve/refactor them where appropriate.

Relevant / Preferred Experience
  • Alteryx
  • Power BI
  • Oracle APEX
  • Medallion-style data architecture
  • Microsoft Fabric familiarity
  • Customer or utility data environments.
