A venture-backed, high-growth sports betting startup in Chicago is hiring a Senior-to-Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer to help rebuild and scale a real-time platform at the forefront of the rapidly expanding sports betting and creator economy. This company has built a highly engaged community of hundreds of thousands of monthly users by empowering independent sports betting creators to monetize their audiences and deliver live predictions, insights, and premium content directly to subscribers.
Following a recent Series A raise and strategic reset, the company is entering its next phase of growth with a lean, high-ownership team and a clear mission: redefine how sports fans engage with betting through community, real-time technology, and creator-driven experiences. Engineers here work directly with leadership and have immediate influence over product direction, architecture, and user experience.
This is a hybrid role based in Chicago (2 days onsite). Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong full-stack development experience building and shipping production applications
- Experience designing scalable backend systems and APIs
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and backend languages such as Python, TypeScript, or similar
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience building consumer-facing products with large user bases
- Exposure to real-time systems, payments, fintech, marketplaces, or subscription platforms
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Svelte, or similar)
- Interest in sports, betting platforms, prediction markets, or creator-driven products
- Experience with mobile development or cloud infrastructure is a plus
What You Will Be Doing
- Tech Breakdown: Full-stack development across modern web technologies (Python backend, TypeScript frontend, cloud infrastructure)
- Daily Responsibilities: 80% hands-on development / 20% architecture, product collaboration, and technical leadership
- Building and scaling real-time systems used by a rapidly growing consumer audience
- Owning features end-to-end, from product ideation through deployment
- Collaborating closely with founders and leadership to shape the platform's future
- Helping establish engineering culture, best practices, and technical direction
- Collaborating daily with a small, tight-knit team
