We are seeking a
Technology Accessibility Compliance Specialist to support a growing accessibility compliance function within the ITS Contracts Team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accessibility professional who enjoys both
technical testing and
working directly with vendors to drive real remediation outcomes-not just documentation.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring that software systems, digital services, and technology vendors meet
WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements, helping shape a maturing compliance program that is expected to grow.
About the RoleAs the Technology Accessibility Compliance Specialist, you will serve as the
central point of coordination for accessibility compliance across technology contracts. You'll validate vendor accessibility documentation, perform technical testing, track remediation commitments, and provide clear compliance visibility to internal stakeholders.
You'll balance diplomacy with firmness, ensuring accessibility requirements are taken seriously and followed through.
You will report to the Programs/Contracts Manager and work closely with:
- Technology Services Managers and PMs
- Contract and procurement stakeholders
- Software and SaaS vendors
What You'll Do- Act as the primary point of contact for vendor accessibility compliance across new and existing technology contracts
- Manage the intake, review, tracking, and follow-up of vendor VPATs / ACRs
- Ensure accessibility documentation is received at least 90 days prior to contract renewal
- Perform manual and automated accessibility testing to validate WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance
- Use tools such as:
- JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver
- WAVE, Axe DevTools, Accessibility Insights, ANDI
- Color Contrast Analyzer, browser developer tools, and keyboard-only testing
- Validate vendor claims and require evidence, documented workarounds, and remediation plans
- Track remediation plans (expected within 30 days) and verify completion against target dates
- Maintain compliance status records and provide regular updates to contract managers
- Develop repeatable processes for testing, evidence capture, tracking, and reporting
- Create management reporting on compliance posture, open issues, and vendor responsiveness
- Provide basic accessibility overviews to internal teams when needed
What We're Looking ForYou're likely a great fit if you have:- Hands-on experience testing accessibility for websites, applications, SaaS products, PDFs, or mobile apps
- A strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA and practical test methods
- Experience interpreting VPATs / ACRs and confidently challenging unsupported vendor claims
- The ability to work independently with vendors while keeping internal stakeholders informed
- Excellent documentation habits and attention to detail
- Professional, confident communication skills suited to a compliance gatekeeper role
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in digital accessibility compliance, accessibility testing, software QA, IT governance, vendor compliance, or contract support
- Hands-on experience using accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies
Preferred (Nice to Have)- Government or public-sector experience, especially in technology procurement or contract oversight
- Experience tracking vendor remediation efforts and accessibility compliance outcomes
- Knowledge of Section 508, ADA-related accessibility expectations, and IT governance practices
- Experience standing up or improving an accessibility intake and tracking process

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
