Position SummaryThe IT Support Technician is responsible for supporting, administering, and maintaining IT applications and infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and effective technology services for end users and business operations. This role requires strong troubleshooting, project coordination, vendor management, and customer service skills, with a focus on supporting manufacturing environments. The Technician will work closely with IT, engineering, production, and business teams to maintain system availability and support operational needs. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when entering manufacturing areas.
ResponsibilitiesIT Support & Service Management - Prioritize and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests to minimize business disruption.
- Provide first-line support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Administer antivirus and threat protection solutions and ensure compliance with operating system, firmware, and security standards.
Application & Infrastructure Support - Administer enterprise and cloud-based applications and infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Support software deployments, system updates, backups, and patch management.
- Provide restoration support during outages and help maintain high availability of applications and servers.
- Troubleshoot server operating system and application issues and coordinate hardware replacements and escalations.
User Training & Enablement - Conduct onsite and virtual training sessions on IT tools, systems, and best practices.
- Create user guides, documentation, and training materials tailored to department needs.
Security & Compliance - Enforce IT security policies and manage user access rights.
- Support data protection, encryption, and device compliance requirements.
- Ensure IT activities follow applicable security and compliance standards.
Network & Voice Services - Support wired and wireless network infrastructure and assist with performance monitoring and upgrades.
- Support voice and VoIP systems, including extensions, voicemail, and phone devices.
- Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues and coordinate changes as needed.
Asset, Identity & Vendor Management - Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle records using asset management tools.
- Administer user and computer directory objects, including Active Directory.
- Work with vendors on procurement, technical support, service delivery, and performance evaluation.
Manufacturing IT Support - Provide specialized support for plant-floor applications, including MES, SCADA, LIMS, and similar systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support operational requirements.
- Help maintain uptime and reliability of manufacturing systems and coordinate system upgrades and OT integrations.
Minimum Qualifications - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure and application support, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems, Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals, VoIP, and cloud services.
- Hands-on experience supporting plant systems such as MES, SCADA, LIMS, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive, customer-focused approach.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with experience training users across multiple functions.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices, security frameworks, and compliance standards.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or Cisco are a plus.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, analytical, consulting, and decision-making skills.
