Job Title: SQL Database Administrator / Data Engineer – AWS Migration
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)

Position Overview
We are seeking a SQL Database Administrator / Data Engineer to support database modernization and migration initiatives. The role focuses on migrating on-premises databases to AWS, developing Python-based data processing solutions, and building AWS data pipelines supporting applications leveraging Amazon RDS and DynamoDB.
The selected candidate will also support SQL Server and cloud-based production environments by ensuring system stability, monitoring database performance, and developing dashboards and operational metrics to maintain data reliability for reporting and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Support migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS and Snowflake environments.
- Develop Python scripts for data generation, transformation, and bulk data loads.
- Design, build, and maintain AWS-based data pipelines.
- Create logical and physical data models and assist application teams with schema design.
- Support application data environments utilizing Amazon RDS and DynamoDB.
- Perform database migration validation, testing, and performance tuning.
- Monitor database performance and system stability through operational metrics and dashboards.
- Develop data quality and performance dashboards to ensure reliable data for reporting and analytics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or a related role involving SQL Server, AWS, and Snowflake.
- Proven experience migrating and archiving databases from on-premises environments to AWS.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) or similar tools.
- Strong expertise in AWS database technologies, including:
- Amazon RDS
- DynamoDB
- S3
- PostgreSQL
- Snowflake
- Experience developing Python scripts for data creation, transformation, and loading.
- Experience building AWS-based data pipelines using services such as S3, Glue, and Lambda.
- Strong data modeling skills, including logical and physical database design.
- Experience supporting application data environments and database schema design.
- Hands-on experience implementing AWS data management practices using services such as AWS Glue, AWS Data Zone, Glue Data Catalog, and API Gateway.
- Experience with version control and CI/CD tools such as GitHub and AWS Code Pipeline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large datasets and enterprise ETL pipelines.
- Knowledge of data lake architectures.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and DynamoDB in production environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise application data environments.
