The successful candidate will work with increasing independence, provide technical oversight, and ensure project success from conception through execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all assigned substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning.
  • Provide training, due diligence, and technical oversight for external engineers to ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Secure engineering consulting resources by developing scopes of work, securing bids, and awarding work through the supply chain group.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop and secure substation sites, supporting necessary engineering updates and permits.
  • Source, select, and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services.
  • Represent internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presenting progress, issues, and risk mitigation to management.
  • Support the review of interconnection documentation and ensure project designs comply with all ISO and transmission owner requirements.
  • Manage orders for long-lead major materials to minimize project delays and budget overruns.
  • Collaborate with project engineering resources across various disciplines to define priorities and work plans.
  • Ensure projects are implemented efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely in accordance with established processes and policies.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required. A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is required. 15+ years of experience planning, designing, and executing large-scale energy projects, including solar, BESS, wind, and hydrogen systems, is highly relevant. Project engineering and/or project management experience is also necessary.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of computational tools such as ETAP or EDISON, and standards including IEEE, NESC, and ASCE is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
