Job Location: This position is remote and can be based from anywhere in the U.S. As an on-call role, you'll be engaged on a project-by-project or task-by-task basis; proactive communication about your availability is key to success.

What You Will Do:

Content Strategy & Governance
  • Assist account teams in developing and executing web content strategies and governance plans
  • Make recommendations about content usability and optimization, including improvements to taxonomy, information architecture, and SEO
  • Apply plain language principles and brand voice guidelines to editorial revisions; collaborate with technical writers, editors, and subject matter experts as needed
  • Support the creation of content briefs, style guides, and editorial standards documentation
  • Stay current on content strategy best practices, including content workflows, structured content models, and evolving SEO standards

Web Content Administration & CMS Management
  • Manage web content in stage and production environments within Drupal and other content management systems
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure content updates are accurately published across all environments (e.g., development, staging, production)
  • Apply accessibility best practices to all content, ensuring compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 guidelines
  • Work with accessibility and data analytics teams to monitor content performance and recommend improvements
  • Support content migrations, content audits, and metadata/taxonomy updates

Project Coordination & Collaboration
  • Proactively communicate with task leads and project managers about your availability, capacity, and task status
  • Use Agile frameworks (e.g., Kanban or Scrum) to manage Operations & Maintenance tasks; track and report on content team activities using tools like Jira or similar platforms
  • Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day client content requests by prioritizing, tracking, and reporting on tasks
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, UX experts, developers, and client stakeholders to support page revisions and the creation of new web content
  • Assist in preparing and delivering presentations to clients and internal project teams
  • Contribute to streamlining content management workflows and team processes

What You Will Bring with You:

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in web content management, content strategy, digital communications, or a closely related role

Professional Skills
  • Familiarity with a content management system (Drupal, WordPress, SharePoint, or similar); hands-on experience with Drupal is a plus
  • Understanding of plain language writing principles, editorial style, and web content best practices
  • Working knowledge of basic SEO concepts, metadata, and information architecture
  • Awareness of web accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working fully remotely with distributed teams

What We Would Like You to Bring with You:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with or for federal, state, or local government clients
  • Exposure to public health content or health communications
  • Familiarity with Agile project management tools (Jira, Trello, Azure DevOps) or workflows
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS as it relates to content publishing
  • Experience using analytics tools (Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics, or similar) to inform content decisions
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content tools (e.g., for drafting, summarization, or content gap analysis) and an understanding of when and how to use them responsibly
  • Experience with design collaboration tools such as Figma
