This is a highly visible leadership role reporting to the VP, Application Development, with responsibility for leading application delivery, support, operations, and strategic planning across key business functions. About the Role
The Director, IT Applications is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery, support, and ongoing evolution of enterprise applications that support critical business functions. This leader will oversee application performance, roadmap planning, modernization initiatives, operational excellence, and team development while ensuring technology solutions align with organizational priorities and business objectives.
Success in this role requires a leader who can balance strategic thinking with execution, build strong stakeholder partnerships, develop talent, inspire innovation, and drive measurable business results.

What You'll Do
Technology Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the delivery, maintenance, support, and optimization of critical business applications.
- Serve as the product owner for assigned application platforms, defining strategic priorities, modernization initiatives, and technology roadmaps.
- Balance business priorities, operational stability, innovation, and technical debt reduction.
- Partner with business and IT leaders to identify opportunities that improve efficiency, productivity, and organizational performance.
- Guide technical direction and influence architecture decisions in partnership with technical teams.
- Monitor application health, delivery performance, and remediation efforts to ensure long-term operational success.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure applications meet service level agreements related to availability, incident response, problem resolution, and production support.
- Oversee release planning, production readiness, support operations, and ongoing enhancements.
- Maintain strong standards for security, compliance, controls, and data integrity.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational, application, and delivery risks.
- Deliver projects and operational commitments on time, within budget, and with high quality.
- Support audits, regulatory inquiries, client reviews, and implementation activities impacting assigned applications.
People & Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of internal and external technology professionals.
- Foster a culture built on trust, collaboration, inclusion, accountability, and continuous learning.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT applications, application support, systems delivery, or a related technology discipline.
- 5+ years of experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise application delivery, support, operations, and service level management.
- Experience with software development lifecycles, release management, production support, and application maintenance.
- Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with business leaders, stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams.
- Experience managing budgets, resources, vendors, operational risk, and delivery governance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevOps practices and methodologies.
- Experience leading application modernization and technical debt reduction initiatives.
- Product management experience within a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience with incident management, change management, root cause analysis, and operational risk mitigation.
Compensation
Annual Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and business needs.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $150,000-$200,000 a year, not including fringe benefits or potential bonuses. At Liberty, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We are committed to pay equity and also consider the internal equity of our current team members when making final compensation decisions.
Please note that the range listed represents the full base salary range for this role. Typically, offers are not made at the top of the range to allow for future salary growth.
