Your Opportunity

In this position as an Electrical Intern, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. This position is intended to be 40 hours per week.

The role of an Electrical Intern is to perform a variety of tasks and assignments to continue to develop knowledge and skills within the electrical discipline. Assignments will be designed to help develop good technical understanding of the basics with work being performed will be under direct supervision of an experienced Electrical Engineer.

An Electrical Intern will perform a variety of tasks to assist with the development of plans and designs of electrical systems consisting of, but not limited to, lighting/controls, power distribution/generation, energy efficiency/sustainability, and fire alarm in government facilities.

Qualifications

Your Key Responsibilities

Work closely with Building Electrical Engineers and Designs to prepare contract drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules, and details ranging from conceptual design to detailed construction documents using software such as Revit and Excel.
  • Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines
  • Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables
  • Follow production guidelines and project standards of the department
  • Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems
  • You will be expected to support team operations and play an integral part in the promotion of our health and safety culture
  • Coordinates with other cross discipline professionals on assigned projects

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
  • Ability to learn and develop working knowledge of Revit
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical engineering principles and calculations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
  • Commitment to a culture of safety

Education and Experience
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

The candidate should be ready to work primarily in an office setting - some field work may be required.
