Job Title: Senior Cloud Data Engineer

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Data Engineer to support a large-scale Data Modernization Initiative (DMI). This role involves building and maintaining a consolidated Enterprise Data Platform using modern cloud tools and re-platforming existing business data applications. The platform supports epidemiologists, public health researchers, and state officials in analyzing public health trends and driving policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop cloud-based data management systems and end-to-end data pipelines
Implement data pipelines across centralized and decentralized (Data Mesh) architectures
Ensure data security, governance, and compliance with applicable policies including HIPAA
Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders to architect scalable, high-availability cloud data solutions
Evaluate and recommend new cloud products and services for data storage and processing
Monitor and optimize cloud data platform performance
Establish and document best practices for data modernization efforts

Required Skills

5+ years designing and developing data pipelines, cloud data architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL
3–5 years developing cloud-based solutions on AWS
5+ years with cloud database platforms such as Snowflake
3–5 years with Informatica (IICS) ETL, GitHub (CI/CD), and Airflow (orchestration)
Proficiency in Python, SQL, Unix/Linux, and shell scripting
Strong knowledge of decentralized data architectures including Data Mesh
Experience with large, multi-terabyte enterprise data platforms
Familiarity with HIPAA and data privacy controls
