About Erie Insurance Group

You may think insurance is just about selling policies and assessing risk – but it takes a lot of technology to keep everything running behind the scenes.

From data scientists to software engineers, Information Technology (IT) jobs can be found in every industry – even insurance. At Erie Insurance, our IT professionals leverage technology to help improve customer experience, protect against cyber threats and maintain software used across the company.

Technology plays a crucial role in connecting the policyholder to the right ERIE employee or agent when they need them most. Whether it’s app development, computer system management or network security, IT professionals are a vital function in the insurance industry.

From our modest roots starting in 1925 as a Pennsylvania auto insurer, we've grown to become a multi-line insurance company, offering auto, home, business and life insurance through our network of independent insurance agents. Today, our geographic presence extends to 12 states and the District of Columbia; from New York to North Carolina and from Wisconsin to Tennessee. The founders had very high principles in mind when they started the company on April 20, 1925. And ERIE’s Founding Purpose has never been lost sight of since. Our founding purpose is “To provide our policyholders with as near perfect protection, as near perfect service as is humanly possible and to do so at the lowest possible cost.”—H.O. Hirt, Founder

At ERIE, we adhere to disciplined underwriting, fair pricing and a prudent investment philosophy. These factors have contributed to our ability to earn consistently superior ratings in the insurance industry. The combination of a quality agency force, a commitment to customer service and the financial stability provided by Erie Insurance Group assures our customers that we’ll be there when they need us most. This stability extends to our employees as well—having never had a layoff in almost 100 years in business.

We’re a regional insurer that ranks highly among much larger companies. Based on Best’s Insurance Reports 2023, we are ranked the 12th largest auto insurer in the US, the 12th largest home insurer and the 13th largest business insurer in the US based on direct premiums written with more than 6 million policies in force. Erie Insurance was ranked #1 in Customer Satisfaction among both Homeowner and Rental Insurance Providers in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Home Insurance Study which measures customers’ satisfaction with their current home and rental insurers. Erie Insurance Group has earned A.M. Best's rating of A+ (Superior). Erie Family Life Insurance Company has earned A.M. Best's rating of A (Excellent). Erie Insurance is a FORTUNE 500 company.

While technology continues to evolve, ERIE is committed to our founding purpose: “Never lose the human touch.” Our people – employees and agents – are what sets us apart.

Think ERIE might be for you? Our IT team is located at our home office in Erie, Pennsylvania, and we’re always looking to add new members to our ERIE family.

Many of our IT positions offer relocation assistance to help make moving as smooth as possible.
