  • Interview process: In-person and virtual interviews. 1st round is virtual, 2nd round is in-person. Candidates should join from a laptop and be prepared to share their screen if requested. A screenshot photo of candidate will be required for any interviews as well as a vendor present at beginning of virtual interview to validate candidate.

  • Assignment duration: Projected to be a 1 year+ contract dependent on business need

  • Hybrid work schedule (non-negotiable): Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start. Wednesdays and Thursdays are required on-site days and cannot be altered

  • Open to candidates local to the Lansing, Michigan area or those willing to relocate from DAY ONE at their OWN EXPENSE (non-negotiable). Candidates that relocate MUST still come on-site for the in-person interview.

Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for complex Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler to ensure current and reliable data is available for critical business processes and decision making. 

  • Responsible for Data Warehouse change management infrastructure and all promotions of code and ddl; performing build engineer tasks for both manual and automated promotion processes. 

  • Responsibility for complex Linux security model on DW ETL servers.  (Servers are administered by another group, but our team is responsible for the security structure and authorizes user access to the groups and sudos)

  • Responsibility for Teradata security and access.

  • Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure alignment with enterprise standards

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and solutions

  • Responsible for providing support for escalated Data Warehouse issue troubleshooting and resolution.

  • Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools to improve performance and scalability

  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and effective use of enterprise data assets

Most Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous government experience or State of Michigan experience is a plus but not required.

  • Experience with cloud-based BI tools


Other desired Skills: 

  • Experience supporting the loading of data from multiple source systems

  • Ability to provide targeted training and technical guidance to development teams for troubleshooting and batch support

  • Minimum of 2 years of Linux experience

  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to determine appropriate solutions while adhering to SoM and MDHHS/DTMB policies

  • Team Environment: The team currently consists of 2 State employees and 6 long-term contractors. It’s a collaborative and well-established group that is looking for an additional resource who can step in and contribute immediately.
