NCDOT – GIS Specialist, Mid Level

We are looking for a mid-level GIS Specialist to provide GIS analysis, data processing, ArcGIS administration, data management, metadata creation, and user support. The role will also support accessibility improvements and WCAG-aligned updates within NCDOT's GIS environment. 

Required Skills:

• 5+ years ArcGIS Pro
• 5+ years ArcGIS Online Administration, Web Mapping & Cartography
• 4+ years ArcGIS Enterprise Administration & Server Management
• 3+ years Survey123, Field Maps & Experience Builder
• 3+ years Arcade & Python scripting
• Strong oral and written communication skills with GIS and non-GIS users.
• GIS analysis and data processing experience.
• GIS data and metadata management experience.
• Experience with hosted and referenced GIS services.
• Requirements gathering and business-user consultation experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide GIS analysis and data-processing support.
• Administer and maintain the ArcGIS Online environment.
• Support approximately 4,500 ArcGIS Online users.
• Manage user accounts, groups, content, and GIS platform resources.
• Develop and maintain GIS projects, dashboards, and web applications.
• Design Experience Builder applications based on department workflows.
• Work with Survey123 and Field Maps.
• Publish hosted and referenced map and feature services.
• Perform GIS data management and metadata creation.
• Develop Python/Arcade scripts for GIS automation and data processing.
• Gather requirements and consult with business units regarding GIS solutions.
• Support GIS accessibility initiatives and WCAG-aligned updates.
• Participate in accessibility audits and improve usability for users with disabilities.
• Prepare user guides and documentation.
• Troubleshoot GIS applications and provide customer support.

Accessibility Focus

The position includes supporting the GIS team's accessibility efforts, including auditing GO!NC and implementing WCAG-aligned updates to improve accessibility and usability for users with disabilities. 

Important Requirements:

• Candidate MUST be local to the NC Triangle region.
• Remote work is available, but this is not a nationwide remote position.
• Candidate must come onsite on the first day to collect equipment.
• Webcam interview required.
