Summary

Razor is seeking a Red Hat OpenShift Cloud Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a large DoD program operating across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, classified cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. This individual will serve as a technical authority for the architecture, deployment, administration, optimization, security, sustainment, and troubleshooting of Red Hat OpenShift environments across multiple classification levels.
This is a hands-on SME role for an engineer capable of owning production OpenShift clusters, resolving complex platform failures, establishing technical standards, mentoring engineers, and advising customers and leadership on architecture, risk, and technical tradeoffs.
Note: This position is contingent upon additional funding.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent directly relevant experience, subject to contractual labor category requirements.
Clearance Requirements:
  • ctive Top Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be eligible and willing to obtain SCI access and a CI Polygraph.
  • ctive TS/SCI with CI Polygraph is preferred.
Location & Work Arrangement:
  • Fairfax, Virginia and/or Springfield, Virginia
  • Hybrid work arrangement with regular SCIF/onsite support approximately 3-4 days per week.

Responsibilities:
  • rchitect, deploy, administer, upgrade, optimize, and sustain Red Hat OpenShift environments across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Own OpenShift cluster lifecycle activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, backup and restore, certificate management, operators, security, networking, storage, performance, and capacity management.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex production OpenShift failures and perform root-cause analysis across control plane and worker nodes, operators, networking, storage, ingress, DNS, authentication/RBAC, certificates, registries, workloads, and cluster health.
  • Implement and troubleshoot OpenShift/Kubernetes networking, including Services, Routes/Ingress, DNS, network policies, load balancing, and enterprise networking/firewall integrations.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot persistent storage using Storage Classes, Persistent Volumes/Claims, and enterprise or cloud storage platforms.
  • utomate OpenShift/Kubernetes infrastructure and application configuration using Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, Helm, and GitOps methodologies.
  • Integrate OpenShift with enterprise CI/CD pipelines, container registries, artifact repositories, security scanning, and GitOps workflows.
  • Maintain security compliance and execute remediation, patching, vulnerability management, and POA&M activities supporting applicable Client.
  • Develop architecture, configuration, operating, troubleshooting, and knowledge-transfer documentation.
  • Establish repeatable platform standards and procedures and mentor/cross-train other engineers.
  • Support onboarding of customer, partner, and vendor teams.
  • dvise government customers, engineering teams, project leadership, and senior leadership on OpenShift architecture, migrations, platform operations, technical risks, and recommended solutions.
  • Support OpenShift platforms hosting I/ML, data-intensive, and other mission workloads.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant infrastructure/platform engineering experience, including substantial hands-on Kubernetes experience.
  • t least 3+ years of hands-on production Red Hat OpenShift engineering/administration experience.
  • Expertise designing, deploying, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting production Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
  • Strong expertise with Kubernetes architecture, administration, workload management, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience with RHEL and Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS (RHCOS).
  • Experience operating OpenShift across enterprise cloud, on-premises, and/or hybrid infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, Helm, and/or GitOps.
  • Experience with security hardening, vulnerability remediation, patching, and configuration compliance within regulated or DoD environments.
  • Strong cloud infrastructure experience, including deploying or operating OpenShift/Kubernetes within WS, Azure, or comparable enterprise cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex production platform issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Experience serving as a technical escalation point, mentoring engineers, and establishing platform standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, customer-facing, and problem-solving skills.
  • DoD 8570-01M IAM Level I or higher certification, such as Security+.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Red Hat certification such as Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, or RHCE.
  • Experience managing OpenShift clusters across bare-metal, hybrid, multi-cloud, and air-gapped environments.
  • Experience with nsible, Terraform, Helm, Argo CD/OpenShift GitOps, and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience with enterprise container registries such as Red Hat Quay, Harbor, GitLab Container Registry, or AWS ECR.
  • Experience with RMF, STIGs, POA&M remediation, and ATO sustainment.
  • Experience with OpenShift Data Foundation, NFS, cloud-native storage, or comparable enterprise storage platforms.
  • Experience supporting GPU-enabled Kubernetes/OpenShift environments and containerized AI/ML workloads.
  • Experience working within classified cloud environments and across multiple DoD impact/classification levels.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OCI cloud-management environments.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, GitOps, and DevSecOps operations within OpenShift environments.
