Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (Jr. PostgreSQL DBA) to support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and performance of PostgreSQL database environments. The ideal candidate will assist senior DBAs and application teams with database operations, backups, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and database deployments in development, test, and production environments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases.
- Monitor database health, availability, storage usage, and system performance.
- Support database backup, recovery, and restoration activities.
- Execute routine database maintenance tasks and health checks.
- Assist with database patching, upgrades, and environment migrations.
- Troubleshoot database connectivity, performance, and operational issues.
- Write and support SQL queries, scripts, and stored procedures.
- Support user access management, permissions, and database security controls.
- Monitor database logs and assist in issue resolution and root cause analysis.
- Work with development and application support teams to resolve database-related issues.
- Maintain database documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Support high-availability and disaster recovery activities as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1 3 years of experience supporting PostgreSQL databases or database administration.
- Basic understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and database concepts.
- Strong SQL querying and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Understanding database backup and recovery concepts.
- Experience with database monitoring and log analysis.
- Knowledge of database security, user roles, and permissions.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PostgreSQL replication and high-availability concepts.
- Familiarity with pgAdmin, psql, or other PostgreSQL tools.
- Exposure cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS or Azure PostgreSQL.
- Basic scripting knowledge (Shell, Python, or PowerShell).
- Knowledge of database migration and deployment processes.
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
