JOB DESCRIPTION

• Design, implement, test, debug, and maintain firmware and software algorithms used in precision variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Develop operating system and application software that meets technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Design and develop reusable software and firmware components for both new and existing product platforms.
• Collaborate closely with electrical hardware engineers to ensure optimal software and hardware integration, compatibility, and performance.
• Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and ongoing product support activities.
• Track reported defects, implement corrective actions, and execute comprehensive validation testing.
• Conduct and participate in software design reviews and peer code reviews.
• Gather and incorporate customer and end-user feedback to enhance product functionality and performance.
• Document software architectures, algorithms, technical designs, and implementation details through reports, comments, and engineering documentation.
• Adhere to established coding standards, firmware development processes, and revision control procedures.
• Champion innovative ideas, features, and product improvements.
• Serve as technical lead on assigned projects, coordinating with internal teams and customers to meet project objectives and resolve technical challenges.
• Work independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality solutions while meeting project deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in electric motor control and/or DC-DC converter control systems.
• Strong background in control theory and application of advanced control methodologies.
• Solid understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals.
• Expert-level proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink.
• Experience developing software for real-time operating systems.
• Experience with Verilog HDL development.
• Strong C/C++ embedded software development experience.
• Experience using Git version control systems.
• Minimum 4 years of related industry experience.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and consistently meet project deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with AMD/Xilinx Vivado development environment.
• Experience with Vitis software development tools.
• Experience using MATLAB/System Generator for model-based design and FPGA development.
• Experience with Mathematica design and simulation tools.
• Background developing motor control, power conversion, or variable frequency drive control algorithms.
• Experience integrating embedded software, FPGA designs, and advanced control systems within industrial power electronics products
