Powertrain Test Technician - Prototype & Vehicle TestingLocation: Dearborn, MI (Hybrid)
We are seeking a motivated
Powertrain Test Technician to support prototype builds, test vehicle operations, and powertrain system validation. This role plays a key part in ensuring engines, after-treatment systems, and vehicle platforms are properly built, tested, and maintained to meet performance and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support test vehicle fleet operations, including maintenance, safety inspections, and instrumentation updates
- Coordinate builds, installation, and maintenance of engine and after-treatment systems
- Work with engineering teams to complete designs, drawings, and prototype orders
- Manage prototype procurement, including bill of materials, documentation, and supplier coordination
- Diagnose test vehicle and engine issues, implement fixes, and minimize downtime
- Perform data collection and review test results using calibration tools
- Create custom wiring harnesses and support test cell setup
- Track catalyst aging requests and coordinate testing processes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (Associate degree preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in engine or vehicle testing and development
- Valid driver's license
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with calibration tools (ATI, ETAS, PTDIAG)
- Knowledge of diesel engines and powertrain systems
- Basic automotive mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
- Experience with prototype builds and test cell operations
