Summary

METECS is seeking an experienced Lead Spaceflight Hardware Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering leadership for the development, integration, verification, qualification, acceptance, and delivery of spaceflight hardware.

You will coordinate the development of integrated electromechanical and electronic hardware, bringing together mechanical, electrical, quality, manufacturing, supplier, and test activities. Your involvement in integration and test will help ensure that requirements and interfaces are clearly defined, understood, and verified.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead systems engineering activities for spaceflight hardware development.
  • Define and maintain hardware requirements, interfaces, technical baselines, and verification methods.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, quality, manufacturing, supplier, and test activities.
  • Facilitate design trade studies and risk assessments; lead integration, troubleshooting, and anomaly resolution.
  • Develop verification, qualification, and acceptance strategies and ensure supporting evidence satisfies applicable requirements.
  • Lead or support key design, test-readiness, qualification, and acceptance reviews.
  • Coordinate development activities with customers, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and test facilities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in systems, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience developing aerospace, spaceflight, or other high-reliability electromechanical or electronic hardware through multiple phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary hardware development.
  • Practical experience with requirements development, interface definition, design trades, integration, verification, and test.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent engineering judgment, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with integrated electromechanical systems involving mechanisms, controls, sensors, electronics, or similar hardware.
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, thermal-vacuum, or EMI/EMC.
  • Experience coordinating with specialized suppliers, contract manufacturers, or external test facilities.

Citizenship or lawful permanent residency required.
