Summary

Description

CenCore is seeking an IT Support Specialist / Systems Administrator I to provide hands-on technology support across the company's Springville and Payson, Utah locations. This role serves as the first point of contact for help desk support, endpoint lifecycle management, account administration, and day-to-day Microsoft 365 support for approximately 150 computer users and 700+ frontline workers. The position supports a fully cloud-based Microsoft 365 environment and works directly with IT, Data, and Security team members. The ideal candidate takes ownership, starts work independently, follows through without waiting for detailed instruction, and looks for opportunities to improve systems and processes. This is an entry-to-early-career opportunity with growth potential into senior IT roles and, over time, IT management as the employee demonstrates technical readiness, leadership, ownership, and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support requests, including triage, prioritization, resolution, escalation, and ticket documentation.
  • Resolve tier 1 and tier 2 issues across Windows 11, Microsoft 365 applications, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, printers, conferencing tools, Wi-Fi, and mobile devices.
  • Support password resets, MFA enrollment and recovery, access requests, user groups, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, and Teams membership in Entra ID and Microsoft 365.
  • Provision, enroll, deploy, wipe, and securely offboard laptops and mobile devices using Intune and Windows Autopilot.
  • Monitor and remediate endpoint compliance items, including patch status, Defender alerts, encryption, and other device-health indicators.
  • Manage hardware inventory, warranty tracking, spare equipment, workstation setup, and end-of-life disposal activities.
  • Execute onboarding and offboarding tasks, including account creation, account disablement, license assignment, group assignment, and mailbox configuration.
  • Assist with Conditional Access, device configuration, and application deployment changes under direction.
  • Maintain help desk runbooks, knowledge base articles, end-user guides, and documentation that allows others to follow established fixes.
  • Take ownership of assigned work, identify next steps, follow issues through resolution, and communicate progress or blockers without waiting for repeated direction.
  • Track recurring issues, recommend process improvements or automation candidates, and follow CenCore change control, security, and data-handling procedures.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of hands-on IT support experience, or an associate degree in IT or a related field plus internship or lab experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 11 administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 users, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint, in a business environment.
  • Familiarity with Entra ID / Azure AD user and group management.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to document solutions clearly.
  • Customer-service mindset and patience when supporting non-technical users.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds and set up workstations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between the Springville and Payson sites.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation.
  • Ability to complete CenCore security awareness and CUI handling training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification.
  • Microsoft MS-900 or MD-102 certification.
  • Hands-on experience with Intune device enrollment, compliance policies, or Windows Autopilot.
  • Exposure to PowerShell for account or device administration tasks.
  • Experience using a ticketing system and writing knowledge base articles.
  • Prior work in a government contractor, defense, or regulated environment involving CUI or NIST 800-171 controls.
  • Experience supporting a distributed or frontline workforce with mobile devices.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint or similar EDR tooling.
  • Experience leading, directing, or managing work, owning a project or process, or proactively taking responsibility beyond assigned duties. Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and growth potential may take precedence over additional years of technical experience.

Skills / Competencies
  • Help desk ticket management and technical troubleshooting.
  • Microsoft 365 user support and administration.
  • Endpoint provisioning, lifecycle support, and compliance monitoring.
  • Clear technical documentation and knowledge-base development.
  • Customer-focused communication with technical and non-technical users.
  • Self-direction, initiative, ownership, and consistent follow-through.
  • Sound judgment when escalating issues or following documented procedures.
  • Attention to detail in account, device, and access administration.
  • Security-minded handling of systems, data, devices, and access requests.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • This is an on-site role supporting CenCore's Springville, Utah and Payson, Utah locations; remote work is not available for this position.
  • Standard schedule is Monday-Friday during business hours, with occasional evening or weekend work for maintenance windows, device rollouts, or urgent outages.
  • Participation in a light on-call rotation may be required for after-hours critical issues once fully onboarded.
  • Work involves sitting at a workstation, moving between offices and work areas, setting up workstations, and lifting or moving equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Local travel between the Springville and Payson sites is required.
