Description POSITION DESCRIPTION: We are looking for a Staff Quality Engineering & Automation Lead to join our Grid & Energy Services team to drive quality engineering and ensure our systems meet the highest standard for performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have experience in QA and Reliability and will work closely with engineering leadership.
LOCATION & WORK ARRANGEMENTThis role is remote, however, the candidate(s) will be expected to relocate at their own expense to our onsite Houston location by Q1 in 2027* *Q1 2027 is an approximate timeframe and is subject to change at any time
RESPONSIBILITIES - Design and lead the development of automated testing frameworks and comprehensive test strategies.
- Drive quality initiatives across teams, ensuring consistent standards for testing, reliability, and performance.
- Conduct advanced testing, including stress, performance, and failure scenario validation.
- Partner with engineering and SRE teams to define quality metrics, reliability goals, and release criteria.
- Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement improvements to prevent recurring issues.
- Mentor engineers on testing best practices and promote a culture of quality across the organization.
- Leverage AI and automation tools to enhance QA workflows and testing efficiency.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - 8+ years of experience in QA, software testing, or reliability engineering.
- Strong experience with automated testing frameworks and test architecture design.
- Experience testing distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-based applications.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, and release processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Travel may be required up to 10% depending on business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in energy, utilities, or renewable systems (solar preferred).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern observability tools.
- Experience with performance testing, reliability engineering, or SRE collaboration.
- Exposure to AI/ML tools applied to testing or quality engineering.
