Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain Public Trust - candidates will be allowed to start without Public Trust within two weeks’ time.
Overview
We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to support and lead ongoing continuous improvement efforts for an enterprise ServiceNow environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who can adapt to evolving client needs, support the ServiceNow roadmap, and collaborate across a matrixed organization.
You will play a key role in enhancing and maintaining existing ServiceNow capabilities while driving new development across multiple modules. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Note: This role may require increased onsite presence due to changes in management. Candidates must be local to the DMV area.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead ServiceNow development efforts and provide guidance to junior and mid-level team members
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements
- Lead development reviews and ensure alignment with best practices
- Identify risks, evaluate alternatives, and provide recommendations
- Coordinate and lead project meetings with stakeholders and technical teams
- Develop implementation plans, SOPs, and system architecture documentation
- Prepare project status reports by analyzing trends and key metrics
- Maintain project documentation repositories
ServiceNow Development - Design, develop, and implement solutions across ServiceNow modules, including: ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, HAM, and CSM
- Create and configure Business Rules, UI Policies, UI Actions, Client Scripts, and ACLs
- Develop custom scoped applications within ServiceNow
- Build automation workflows using Flow Designer
- Perform unit testing, debugging, and validation prior to production deployment
- Ensure adherence to ServiceNow technical best practices and security policies
- Support release management, environment configuration, and production support
Collaboration & Agile Delivery - Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily scrums
- Update and manage development stories in ServiceNow
- Collaborate across platform teams to deliver features and enhancements
- Work with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure alignment
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience as a ServiceNow Developer
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture and capabilities
- 6+ years of experience in design, development, and support
- 4+ years of experience leading software development projects
- Hands-on development experience across multiple ServiceNow modules, specifically:
- Hardware Asset Management (HAM)
- Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
- Customer Service Management (CSM)
- HR Service Delivery (HRSD)
- Experience with ITSM, ITOM, and ITAM
- Strong experience with:
- JavaScript / Glide
- HTML5, AngularJS, jQuery, CSS
- Experience with integrations and Flow Designer
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification or ability to obtain within 3 months
Preferred Qualifications - ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist
- ITIL v3 Foundation certification
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems
- Experience with Okta and SSO technologies
- Familiarity with organizational change management
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously
- AI-related experience (Now Assist, third-party LLM APIs, Automated Test Framework)
- Project management experience
