Job Description
Randstad is seeking a highly skilled AWS Java Full Stack Engineer to join our client's team in the Washington, DC area. In this role, you will design, develop, and automate enterprise backend applications and modern cloud solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and the AWS ecosystem. You will bridge traditional enterprise technologies with cloud-native architectures while using cutting-edge AI developer tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, unit testing, and refactoring. This hybrid opportunity requires periodic onsite attendance for quarterly PI Planning and team collaboration events in DC or Wilmington.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend microservices and full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
Architect and implement cloud-native infrastructure and services using AWS Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift.
Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools (GitHub Copilot) to accelerate code generation, refactoring, test suite development, and technical documentation.
Automate continuous integration, test execution, and deployment pipelines using GitHub/GitLab, JUnit, and SonarQube in a TDD/BDD environment.
Modernize, maintain, and integrate legacy enterprise J2EE web services, messaging components, and relational/NoSQL databases.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, PI Planning sessions, and cross-functional team collaborations to deliver end-to-end features from concept through operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Core Technical Stack: Extensive experience in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST/SOAP Web Services, and concurrent programming design patterns.
AWS Expertise: Proven track record building applications with AWS serverless and data technologies (Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Aurora, Redshift).
AI Developer Tooling: Hands-on experience using GitHub Copilot (or similar generative AI tools) for code creation, unit test automation, and code quality enhancements.
Full-Stack & Frontend Skills: Experience with JavaScript frameworks, HTML, JSP, and JSON/REST APIs.
Enterprise & Legacy Frameworks: Familiarity with J2EE standards, JMS/MQ, JDBC, Oracle/SQL, XML technologies (XSLT, JAXB), and enterprise security models (JAAS, HTTPS, encryption).
Testing & Quality Assurance: Deep understanding of unit testing, TDD/BDD methodologies, SonarQube code scanning, and JUnit.
Work Logistics: Ability to work hybrid with mandatory onsite attendance for in-person team meetings and PI Planning events in the Washington, DC or Wilmington, DE offices.
