RESPONSIBILITIES:
A client with Kforce is seeking a Technical Project Manager Data Initiatives to join their team in Chicago, IL.
Summary:
The Technical Project Manager will lead the planning and execution of strategic and tactical initiatives across the Data organization. This role requires a highly capable, self-directed individual who can operate effectively across a broad portfolio of data initiatives, including data platforms, governance, reporting and analytics, business process improvement, data quality, integrations, regulatory and operational initiatives, and other emerging priorities.
The ideal candidate combines strong project and program management discipline with business analysis skills and sufficient technical and data fluency to work effectively with data engineers, architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
This individual does not need to be a data engineer or deep technical specialist, but must be comfortable learning new subject areas quickly, asking the right questions, connecting business needs to technical execution, and driving work forward in ambiguous environments.
The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, comfortable in ambiguity, and trusted to -fly above the noise-. They can stay focused on priorities and outcomes while remaining close to execution, bringing structure to complex initiatives, resolving issues, and keeping stakeholders aligned from planning through implementation.
Responsibilities:
* Lead complex, cross-functional data initiatives from planning through implementation, driving scope, timelines, resources, and delivery outcomes
* Drive day-to-day execution, establish clear ownership, and hold project teams accountable for commitments and milestones
* Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, analyze processes, and translate needs into actionable solutions
* Coordinate internal teams, vendors, and partners across Data, Technology, and business functions
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration
* 7+ years of experience in project, program, or delivery leadership roles within data, technology, or financial services environments (preferably in financial services or data-driven environments)
* 5+ years of experience partnering with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above) and developing clear executive-level communications
* Exceptional executive communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop clear, concise decks and summaries for C-suite audiences
* Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, with the judgment to apply the right approach based on context
* Proven ability to work independently and cross-functionally in complex environments
* Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process analysis, and translating business needs into actionable deliverables
* Strong proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
* Working knowledge of data concepts
* Proven ability to work independently, collaborate, and drive results and accountability across teams and in an ambiguous environment
* Fast and responsive, deadline driven
* Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
* Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
* Comfortable moving between different types of initiatives
* Detail oriented with excellent follow-through skills
* Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work and deliverables
* Influential, focused, and versatile team player comfortable under pressure
Nice to have:
* Financial services or asset management experience
* Familiarity with reporting or analytics tools such as PowerBI, SQL, or Snowflake
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
