Role: BigID Functional Lead

Location: Remote

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced BigID Functional Lead to drive the implementation and optimization of enterprise data privacy and governance initiatives. This role will serve as the functional owner of privacy-related capabilities, ensuring compliance requirements are effectively translated into scalable platform solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data privacy operations, information security, enterprise data management, and privacy technology platforms, with hands-on experience delivering large-scale privacy programs in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the functional design and deployment of privacy and governance capabilities, including data discovery, data subject rights management, retention management, third-party/vendor oversight, and AI governance frameworks.
  • Partner closely with Privacy, Legal, Compliance, Security, and IT teams to ensure platform capabilities support evolving regulatory and business requirements.
  • Translate privacy regulations, corporate policies, and compliance obligations across multiple North American jurisdictions into actionable business requirements, workflows, and platform configurations.
  • Own end-to-end requirements management, including requirements gathering, traceability, functional design, testing coordination, user acceptance validation, and production readiness.
  • Drive enterprise-wide implementation and adoption of data privacy platforms such as BigID, ensuring alignment with organizational governance and risk management objectives.
  • Assess current-state business processes and recommend privacy-by-design strategies to strengthen data protection controls and operational effectiveness.
  • Define and oversee functional integrations between privacy platforms and enterprise applications, including identity management systems, cloud environments, databases, collaboration platforms, and workflow management tools.
  • Develop functional specifications, process documentation, training materials, and knowledge-transfer sessions for business and technical stakeholders.
  • Support platform administration activities, issue resolution, performance optimization, enhancement planning, and rollout of new capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data intelligence, classification, cataloging, lineage visibility, and privacy governance across structured and unstructured data environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in data privacy, data governance, information security, or related disciplines, with direct experience operationalizing privacy regulations such as PIPEDA, CCPA, CPA, and similar frameworks.
  • Proven experience leading or owning implementations of privacy management platforms such as BigID, OneTrust, Securiti, or equivalent solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data discovery, classification, DSAR processes, retention policies, consent management, vendor risk management, and privacy compliance operations.
  • Solid knowledge of enterprise data architecture, including data cataloging, lineage, metadata management, structured and unstructured data repositories, and cloud-based data ecosystems.
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including Chief Privacy Officers (CPOs), Data Protection Officers (DPOs), legal teams, and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise in functional design, requirements management, process mapping, testing governance, and implementation lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with data intelligence, data mining, data science concepts, information security practices, and privacy-enhancing technologies.

Preferred Certifications:

  • BigID Certified Professional
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E or equivalent)
  • Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)
  • Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT)
