Role OverviewA national telecommunications provider is seeking a
Wireless-focused Systems Engineer 4 to support a wide range of wireless network operations and modernization initiatives. This engineer will help offload mid-level engineering tasks so senior engineers can focus on major strategic efforts.
You will join a collaborative engineering organization of roughly ten team members, working directly with senior leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong wireless systems knowledge along with comfort in Linux-based environments, automation workflows, and policy-driven traffic systems.
Key strategic initiatives you will support include:- Deployment of next-generation DOCSIS 4.0 technologies and expansion of high-bandwidth service offerings
- Upgrades to a policy-management platform used for traffic, subscriber, and service-level control
Key Responsibilities- Support wireless telephony systems, wireless protocols, and wireless network operations across the provider's service ecosystem
- Assist with automation optimization for wireless and network services to improve delivery speed and overall reliability
- Log into policy-control devices (e.g., Sandvine TPS) to update scripts, modify policies, and support traffic-shaping initiatives
- Update and maintain ITDR scopes, documentation, and operational readiness materials
- Support monitoring and management of facility alarms and wireless sensors across remote network sites
- Contribute to diagnostics, wireless fault monitoring, and compliance reporting
- Assist with DHCP, DNS, and routing tasks that support wireless service delivery
- Collaborate with engineering teams to streamline workflows and accelerate execution of network modernization projects
Required Skills & Experience- Foundational understanding of wireless telephony systems and wireless protocols
- Experience supporting wireless network infrastructure in telecom, broadband, or fiber-based environments
- Strong Linux networking and systems administration
- IPv4 and IPv6 fundamentals
- DNS & DHCP configuration/support
- Layer 3 routing
- Bash scripting
- Familiarity with DOCSIS 3.0 cable-modem protocols (supporting role, not primary focus)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Sandvine or policy-management platforms (highly valuable)
- RedHat certifications (RHCSA or RHCE)
- Background in wireless systems engineering, wireless policy management, or telecom operations
- Experience with wireless monitoring, wireless alarms, or remote facility wireless systems
Education & Certifications- Relevant professional experience in wireless or systems engineering
- Certifications such as:
- Certified Systems Administrator
- RHCSA
- RHCE
