7194 - SAP BASIS Specialist (Must Reside in Sacramento to be Considered)
Position Overview
An organization is seeking an experienced SAP BASIS Specialist to support and administer enterprise SAP systems. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of complex SAP environments across multiple platforms.
The SAP BASIS Specialist will collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and application support personnel to ensure the stability, scalability, and reliability of enterprise SAP systems. The position requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, deep SAP technical knowledge, and experience supporting enterprise SAP ecosystems.
Supported environments may include SAP ECC, CRM, BW, BOBJ, Process Orchestration, Web Dispatcher, Fiori, C/4 HANA, S/4 HANA, Ariba, SAP BTP, SuccessFactors, SAP BDC, SAP SAC, Datasphere, and related technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide SAP BASIS administration for enterprise SAP applications and platforms
- Support installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and system refresh activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues and application outages
- Coordinate SAP system installs, upgrades, patches, backups, and restoration activities
- Perform operating system, database, and application patching and migrations
- Test patches and updates in non-production environments prior to deployment
- Configure SAP systems and applications according to enterprise standards and best practices
- Ensure application availability in accordance with service level requirements
- Perform system sizing, monitoring, and capacity planning
- Serve as liaison with vendors for bug fixes, maintenance, and licensing issues
- Provide status reporting on system health, issues, and project activities
- Interface with business units and application users to resolve technical issues
- Install new SAP application releases and version upgrades
- Support, monitor, and troubleshoot hardware and software related to the SAP platform
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, architecture diagrams, backup policies, and administrative inventories
- Manage SAP security administration including user management and access control
- Automate administrative processes and improve system management workflows
- Coordinate support activities with infrastructure, security, network, and development teams
- Configure and monitor batch jobs, scripts, and system tasks
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation
- Maintain fault tolerance and recovery procedures for SAP systems
Required Qualifications
- Five (5) years of SAP BASIS experience supporting SAP ABAP and JAVA systems
- Three (3) years supporting modern SAP platforms including S/4 HANA, C/4 HANA, SuccessFactors, and SAP BTP technologies such as Cloud Connector, Cloud Integration, Fiori, UI5, or SAP HANA
- Experience supporting at least two major SAP implementation or upgrade projects, including S/4HANA migration initiatives
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible IT experience administering enterprise applications
- Experience administering SAP and non-SAP enterprise solutions including installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and documentation
- Experience with SAP system design, configuration, and architecture
- Knowledge of system development lifecycle, data modeling, and complex technical issue resolution
- Experience with operating systems including UNIX, Linux, Windows, or AIX

- Ability to provide support outside of standard business hours when required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Additional higher education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP certifications related to SAP platforms listed above
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of SAP cloud services and hyperscale infrastructure
- Advanced experience with SAP Solution Manager for monitoring and documentation
- Experience with SAP system refresh tools such as LAMA or SAP PCA
- Administration experience for NetWeaver Java solutions including NWDI, EP 7.0, Adobe Document Services, Process Orchestration, Web Dispatcher, and SLD
- Experience with SAP change management tools such as CTS+ and cloud transport mechanisms
- Experience administering SAP systems in DB2/AIX or RHEL environments
