The Application Architect is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of custom application development. (S)he will provide advanced technical expertise on system design, documentation, and implementation of Shamrock Foods Company's custom application offerings.
Essential Duties: - Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining custom software.
- Introduce and integrate new technologies into software development environments.
- Design and govern the enterprise application architecture for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, and intelligent automation solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, security requirements, data governance standards, and enterprise architecture principles.
- Evaluate, prototype, and establish standards for the adoption of AI technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, machine learning platforms, and AI agents; provide architectural guidance for their responsible and effective use across the software development lifecycle.
- Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Engineers, other Architects, and software development teams.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior members of the software development teams through code reviews, training sessions, one-on-one conversations.
- Document the company's existing software development architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of software development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility and reliability.
- Perform POCs for new technologies as required to determine recommendations.
- Confer with end-users, clients, or senior management to define business requirements for complex systems and software development.
- Provide technical advice and estimations during project initiation and exploration.
- Develop and manage a software development lifecycle management plan.
- Assist with DevOps team with CI/CD modeling and implementation.
- Develop standards for processes, procedures, and expectations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field and 8+ years of related job experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successful track record administering software at an enterprise level
- Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture plans
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Technical lead in strategic design and implementation
- Expert understanding and administration of the Required Skills for the discipline that the Architect has responsibility for.
- Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends and holidays.
